Driving is not only an necessary skill for working, but sometimes is also an exciting way to relax yourself, especially when you are driving your new high-level Lexus on your way for holiday camping.

Do make sure that you are driving safely, or your holidays may come to a nightmare. There are several tips, actually, for you to set up some right habits to drive.

I used to download an anticle about safe drivings(sorry can’t remide the websites address for is article), and in which the writter picked out several things need to be taken care of. In this article ,there were 15 tips that we need to be aware…

Tip #1: Seat Belts

80% of people who are involved in a crash and do not wear a seat belt are injured or killed.

Tip #2: Head Restraints

70% of all injuries in crashes are soft tissue injuries to the neck and back.
A head restraint helps reduce soft tissue injuries to the neck and back. It prevents your head and neck from hyper- extending if you are hit from behind.

Tip #3: Anti-lock braking systems

ABS allows you to steer around an object even with maximum braking.

Tip #4: Air Bags

Air bags deploy at a speed of up to 300km/hr.

Air bags, when used with your seat belt, provide the best protection in a frontal crash, but they need an average of 10 inches of space to inflate.

Tip #5: Child Seats

Over 50% of the child seats inspected at BCAA Traffic Safety Foundation/ICBC child seat check events are installed or used incorrectly.

Tip #6: Summer Vehicle Maintenance

BCAA attended over 500,000 vehicles due to unexpected mechanical breakdowns in 2000.

Tip #7: Winter Vehicle Maintenance

Road risks increase by up to 15 times during snow conditions.

Tip #8: Controlled Intersections

50% of all crashes in BC happen at intersections.

Tip #9: Uncontrolled Intersections

22% of motor vehicle injuries are due to failure to yield “right of way”.

Intersections with no signals or signs are called “courtesy corners”. These are often in residential areas where pedestrians are crossing or children are playing.

Tip #10: Stopping at Intersections

Simple tips for stopping safely at intersections.

Tip #11: Aggressive Driving

About 73% of victims injured in unsafe speed related collisions were in vehicles travelling at unsafe speeds.

Tip #12: Impaired Driving

Over 100 people are killed each year in BC where alcohol was involved.
About 24% of traffic deaths in BC involve impaired driving.

Anything that decreases your ability to judge the situation around you and to react appropriately is dangerous, whether it’s alcohol or prescription drugs.

Tip #13: Night Driving

To avoid blinding other drivers, dim your high beam headlights when you are 150 metres from meeting or following a vehicle.Driving at night is a challenge – your vision is limited and your reactions may be delayed due to fatigue.

Tip #14: Fatigue

Approximately 39% of motor vehicle injuries are a result of driving without due care.Don’t get caught falling asleep at the wheel – it could be fatal
Tip #15: Mature Drivers

Drivers over 60 are two to ten times more likely to be in an intersection crash than drivers in their 40’s.

Increased traffic volumes, more complex road networks and new vehicle features place more demands than ever on your driving skills and attention.!

Tip # 16: Car Insurance

The most important one, which I am proposing. It is an insurance against loss due to theft or traffic accidents. No matter what kind of car you are driving, this is the only way to make up someting for anyone involved in the accidents or crashes. Do remember, before you press the “star” button of your lexus, make sure that you have already got the Car Insurance for it.

Being lazy is never a helpful thing, and neither is being too excited. As to the internet ‘geeks’, less excercisng as well as over exercising will corrupt your body and even spirit….

NEW YORK – Breaking up your fitness routine is hard to do. But it’s crucial for avoiding the bigger heartache of overuse injury, fitness experts say.

“People tend to do the same thing over and over again, without varying it, without taking adequate rest, without building slowly, and they end up with an overuse injury,” said Geralyn Coopersmith, national manager for the Equinox Fitness Training Institute.

“Tendonitis, bursitis, fasciitis, these kinds of inflammations are pretty much guaranteed if you don’t’ vary your training,” said Coopersmith, who oversees the training of 1400 personal trainers in 48 Equinox clubs nationwide.

Yet she concedes that even clients who complain of nagging aches and pains are loath to change their routine.

“People get terrified. They’ll say, ‘The treadmill made me lose weight.’ Well, exercise made you lose weight. The treadmill was the modality. That doesn’t’ mean it’s the only way or the best way,” she explained.

“Most people don’t cross train enough,” she said. “Maybe they’ve been doing yoga for years so their flexibility is great but ask them to hold a plank position and there’s no core strength at all.”

For Adrian Shepard, fitness director for the recreation department at Butler University, over-exercisers can suffer more than pain or poor performance.

“Overall it’s a tricky thing to notice,” he said. “Some signs, like sleeplessness, apathy, depression and difficulty concentrating, may be associated with other conditions. You really have to focus on the big picture.”

Shepard says some young adults he works with at the Butler campus in Indianapolis, Indiana, are especially vulnerable.

“Most at risk are those training for an event or sport,” he said, “or those with a preoccupation with being thinner.”

He stresses the importance of consulting a fitness professional.

“If you’re feeling pain while doing an exercise the form might be wrong or you might be injured,” he said.

Dr. Heather Gillespie, of the American College of Sports Medicine, sees everyone from elite athletes to weekend warriors in her sports medicine practice at UCLA.

She said the consequences of over-exercising can include stress fractures as well as overuse injuries.

“Some runners just run, no cross training, and they may do the same thing every week,” she explained.

For them she recommends strength training.

“Some sort of weight lifting routine focusing on their weaknesses,” she said. “A lot of knee pain comes from weak gluteus muscles.”

She suggests varying routines and taking time to recover.

“Rest and recovery is very important. It’s recommended that you take at least one day off,” she said, particularly after an injury has been diagnosed.

“For stress fractures, rest is essential,” she added. “But just because you can’t run doesn’t mean you can’t run in the pool. I consider that active rehabilitation.”

She acknowledges the difficulty of prying even an injured addict away from his activity.

“Exercise is a great form of stress release,” she said. “And injury can cause depression. I’ve had a lot of people break down in my office because they can’t run and they’re in tears.”

Coopersmith urges all who work out to seek professional advice.

“We tell people that exercise is a drug, and like a drug you need a prescription. So much of it is good, and then so much of it is an overdose.”

Well, there are too many answers for this question, such as upgrading your hardwares(the most expensive solution ), resetting your BIOS, cleaning your temp-files, limiting your start-up programmes. Today, I would like to introduce one free software(sounds good): WinPatrol

This is a very good program for monitoring and controlling what runs on your system. As the figure below shows, there are tabs for a variety of functions including Startup Programs, IE Helpers, Services, Active Tasks, and more. This is a very handy way to see just what is going on in the system and what is installed. There is even an “Info” button where information about what a service or program actually does can be obtained. This program will help guard your system against spyware and other problems. There is also a paid version, which has even more information. The Web site is http://www.winpatrol.com/

WinPatrol takes snapshot of your critical system resources and alerts you to any changes that may occur without your knowledge. WinPatrol was the pioneer in using a heuristic behavioral approach to detecting attacks and violations of your computing environment. It continues to be one of the most powerful system monitors while staying a single small program.

Sounds skillful, if it is really freely to use, let’s try it, why not?

Oh really? Is it just an excuse for beer drinking? Not only off course…..

NEW YORK – Beer drinkers now have a good excuse to order another round — the brew may help keep bones strong, a study has found.

Researchers from the Department of Food Science & Technology at the University of California, have found beer is a rich source of silicon and may help prevent osteoporosis, as dietary silicon is a key ingredient for increasing bone mineral density.

These were the findings after researchers tested 100 commercial beers for silicon content and categorized the data according to beer style and source.

Previous research has suggested beer contained silicon but little was known about how silicon levels varied with the different types of beer and malting processes.

“We have examined a wide range of beer styles for their silicon content and have also studied the impact of raw materials and the brewing process on the quantities of silicon that enter wort and beer,” researcher Charles Bamforth said in a statement.

The study, published in the Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, found the beers’ silicon content ranged from 6.4 m

illigrams per liter to 56.5 mg per liter. The average person’s silicon intake each day is between 20 and 50 mgs.

The researchers found there was little change in the silicon content of barley during the malting process as most of the silicon in barley is in the husk, which is not affected greatly during malting.

They found pale ales showed the highest silicon content while non-alcoholic beers, light lagers and wheat beers had the least silicon.

“Beers containing high levels of malted barley and hops are richest in silicon,” said Bamforth.

“Wheat contains less silicon than barley because it is the husk of the barley that is rich in this element.”

But Bamforth told reporters that the results shouldn’t be taken too serious. The study examined the beers but it did not look at bone mineral density or analyze patients’ data.

“I would first consider flavor and whether you like it or not,” he told science and technology magazine Discover. “Choose the beer you enjoy, for goodness sake.”

Well, I have to say that this is an interesting article showing us how to keep dust away from our PCs, however, do remember that the best way is to buy one laptop! (^^ kidding)

Let’s read carefully and learn that dirty-dealing skills:

Have you ever had a PC that started making strange whining noises? Even if you’ve investigated the cause of the noises, which can often sound pretty serious when you hear them, you may not realise the reason for them. The chances are they’re caused by a cooling fan with dust in its bearing.

Fans are one of the few components in a PC which have unsealed moving parts. By their nature, they have to be open to the air to suck heat out of the machine and push cool air in. As a result, they’re extremely susceptible to all the airborne particles that make up household dust.

Contrary to popular myth, household dust is not primarily composed of human skin. In fact, although there are some skin cells present in virtually all house dust, its composition varies quite dramatically from area to area, season to season and room to room.

As you might expect, it includes pet hairs, pollen, plant seeds and broken-down insect remains, as well as lots and lots of particles of dirt. Both the organic and inorganic components of house dust can be troublesome to a machine with moving parts. Minute fragments of minerals can become trapped between bearings and shafts, while a build-up of softer material can act as a brake and slow a fan’s rate of rotation.

Thankfully, with a little DIY work on a typical desktop PC case, you can increase the reliability of the fans, which in turn ensures proper cooling of all your system’s important components: processor, video card, memory and power supply.

The simple answer to fan failure is to filter the air that enters your PC. Doing this isn’t difficult at all, and here’s a really simple way to cut out the muck.

1. Find a filter

The obvious filter material for a PC intake is that used for screening dust in a vacuum cleaner filter pad, since this material is designed expressly to perform this function.

filters

These filter pads are cheap and readily available from all good electrical shops, and since you’ll mark out and cut the filter material to fit your particular PC, it doesn’t matter which vacuum cleaner model filters you buy.

You’re after the largest area of filter you can get for your money, though, so go through the different models. You may be able to buy filter material in sheets, which could be even cheaper. It won’t be a major outlay: you’re typically looking at spending just a few pounds for a bag of filter pads.

2. Hold it in place

To get started, you’ll need to find something to hold the filter material in place over the intake on your PC’s case. You could stick it in place, but that would make it hard to replace periodically. Fortunately there’s a ready-made holder for the filter material in the form of a simple J-shaped plastic extrusion.

Holders

This kind of extrusion is normally used to hide the rough edges of hardboard or acrylic sheet fittings, but it’s just as good for holding vacuum filter material, and the gap is ideal for use as a slide fit. It’s available in strips from DIY chains like B&Q and Homebase for a couple of pounds a metre.

You should be able to get all the lengths you need to add filters to a typical PC from one extrusion pack. Measure the size you need to hold the filter material in your PC and cut it to length with a craft knife.

In most cases, two strips placed at the top and bottom of the filter will work best, but for small areas a single strip may suffice. You can attach the strips of extrusion to the case with double-sided tape, applied first to the extrusion and then to the PC’s case. This tape is readily available from most DIY stores.

3. Cut the filter to size

Measure the ventilation holes in your PC’s case and cut out a cardboard template for each. Lay each template on the filter material and draw round it with a marker to make the inserts. Keep the templates, so you can renew the filters every so often.

Cut filters

You can fit filter pieces to the fan ports on power supplies and hold them in place by undoing the mounting screws and screwing them back through corresponding holes in the filter material.

Cut the filter material with scissors – a craft knife tends to snag. Though it’s generally an unwoven, felt-like material, filter pads can still be cut into quite intricate shapes if needed.

4. Fit it to your PC

Fitting the filters, once you have the extrusion and filter material cut to size, is very simple. Stick the extrusion strips to the top and bottom of the case vent and slide the prepared filter strip between them so they’re gripped in the channels.

Fit filters

Filters can be added inside or outside the case, whichever is more convenient (the result will look neater if they’re added on the inside, of course). Try not to stick the extrusion over holes making up part of the case vent.

Adding the filter will reduce the airflow through the vents in comparison with unfiltered vents, but not significantly – a fan running slowly because of dust in its bearing will suffer far more.

5. Change it regularly

If all this Blue Peter-style DIY seems like overkill, it’s worth mentioning that your author, who runs three working PCs pretty much continuously, was replacing a fan roughly every four months between these machines. This is in a domestic rural environment with few vehicle fumes or other typical urban contaminants to clog the workings up.

Before and after

Since installing filters and nano-ceramic fans, not a single fan has had to be replaced and all are continuing to run quietly and provide specified levels of airflow. Changing the filters on each PC takes around 10 minutes to cut the material to size and another 10 minutes to fit. That’s just 20 minutes every six months, probably less time than it typically takes to download and install a Service Pack.

Look at the used and fresh filter elements in the picture here and you can see that the filter’s pretty effective and catches a lot of dust that would otherwise end up inside your PC.
